Paul Calderaio
is Bad
for Buckingham
For over 20 years, Paul Calderaio and a closed circle of politicians, connected friends, and vendors has put insiders first. It’s time to put residents back at the center of every decision in Buckingham. Residents deserve leaders who disclose material issues, have basic managerial experience, and demonstrate respect for all residents regardless of how long they have lived here.
Key Issues
Warehouse Controversy
- Helped political allies push a massive warehouse; attacked residents who raised concerns.
- Politically connected landowners leveraged access to advance early approvals.
- Developers reassured leadership that neighbors were “taken care of.”
- Paul and the other supervisors requested the developer to withdraw their application until after the election—then refiled weeks later.
- Staged optics at hearing while granting a key vote that aided the developer on appeal.
Protecting Donors & Vendors
- Refused to investigate tens of thousands in questionable invoices from the Township engineer who is a campaign-donor.
- Supported legal action against multiple residents who questioned excessive fees.
- Outside vendor payments obscured in budgets; transparency remains poor.
- Town solicitor and engineering vendors have not been put out to competitive bid in 20+ and 30+ years – friends helping friends.
Abuse of Eminent Domain
- Paul led the Township’s efforts to use eminent domain to seize land from a farmer for a spray field.
- Ignored community concerns and pushed the project forward.
- The farmer attempted to resolve the matter in good faith but as usual Paul put his, and his close knit group of friends, first.
Paul’s actions set a dangerous precedent for all residents. If Paul can take away a farmer’s land in town he can do the same to others.
Hostile to Transparency
Spent significant taxpayer dollars fighting lawful public records requests, reducing accountability while legal bills soared. Basic requests to provide copies of Township documents often become a big legal project under Paul’s leadership. Perhaps the Township Solicitor donating towards his local political party’s campaign fund keeps it that way.
Public Confidence
Residents deserve leaders who disclose material issues, avoid conflicts, and demonstrate steady judgment in the public interest.
- Currently claiming significant impact to his mental facilities as a plaintiff in a lawsuit yet has not disclosed how this may impact his ability to act in his supervisor role.
- His brother has recently pleaded no contest to five theft-related counts related to his local business. Paul has neglected to disclose this and potential conflicts or risks it poses for the Township.
- Allowed Township solicitor to attack residents while also refusing to look into allegations of excessing fees to residents. Solicitor has donated in the past to Paul’s political campaign fund organization.
Lack of Qualifications
Paul is a salesman; he has no management or operational experience. Routinely defers to vendors who profit because Paul lacks professional experience to challenge them. This ends up costing us taxpayers money due to Paul’s lack of business and professional experience.
